The Fessenden School is an independent boys’ boarding and day school for pre-kindergarten through grade 9.
Re-establishing an Image
We worked with Fessenden to revitalize and modernize their brand without losing the sense of tradition that is an integral part of the school.
Updating Digital Presence
The Fessenden website is a content-rich resource for students and families. Utilizing Blackbaud’s school-specific CMS, we designed a new site to help Fessenden manage everything from admissions to sports schedules.
With so much valuable information across dozens of pages, developing a clear navigation system was key, as was maintaining that clarity across devices.
Alumni Magazines and Viewbooks
Print materials are used thoughtfully to uphold Fessenden’s image and brand. Their alumni magazine is a showcase of school news and events, and is an important part of their holistic marketing approach. Also, to create a more personalized viewbook for prospective parents, we created a “deconstructed” modular kit. By producing grade-specific viewbooks, prospective families get just the info they need for their child’s entry point. The smaller “At a Glance” brochures include information such as schedules, academic classes, and tuition so that they are easier to change and reprint at a lower cost. Everything is contained in a custom embossed folder and envelope.
Fessenden Summer Programs

Over the past couple of years we have been working hard to refresh our brand, launch a new website, and update our digital and print collateral. The work has been fun, and exhausting, but one of the highlights of the process was finding an amazing resource and invaluable extension of our team, Graphic Details.
Fessenden Open House Landing Page
We created an interactive open house microsite that captures information from web visitors drawn in through owned and paid media channels. Through self-selection, the site serves up relevant content specific to to the site visitor’s needs, and converts web visitors to active event attendees. A New Athletics Brand
Along with an academic rebrand, Fessenden felt they needed updated graphics to tie things together in the Athletics Department.
An App for Campus Navigation
In order to provide a more immersive and informative experience navigating Fessenden campus, we created a custom map illustration and, with our partner MapHatch, a customized wayfinding app.
Led by owner Brenda Riddell, the Graphic Details team is the most delightful partner I have encountered in my twenty plus years working in the ever-changing field of marketing. They are talented, flexible, accommodating, fantastic project managers, and well-priced. They understand how independent schools work, unlike most larger agencies, and are not flustered by our collaborative style, which often elongates approval processes and sometimes requires a few extra face-to-face meetings. It isn’t easy to bring a traditional brand from 1903 into the 21st century in a way that is comfortable for alumni, trustees, and other constituencies, but Graphic Details helped us to successfully accomplish this.
